McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub
W2A Design Group designed both exterior and interior renovations to McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub & Whiskey Bar, along with Bethlehem PA’s Walnut Street. The renovations introduced a new outdoor seating area and façade inspired by the Dublin’s famous Farrington’s Pub. Located to the rear of the Celtic Gift Shop Donegal Square along Bethlehem’s historic Main Street, the four-phase project is steadily transforming the Irish tea room into an authentic Irish pub and whiskey bar. The expanded sidewalk of brick pavers in the new terraced outdoor patio area of the seven-day-a week restaurant can seat about 35 guests along Walnut Street. This provided them with a wonderful view of Main Street but with a quieter, more relaxed feel. Both inside and out diners are surrounded by generous wood moldings with copper roofing and “birdhouse” accents. In addition to handicapped accessible toilet rooms, the renovated interior design also features new wainscoting, porcelain floor tile, and classic Irish “snugs”, enclosed booths offering a quieter dining experience. New finishes and millwork details reminiscent of pubs in Ireland, including punched tin ceilings, were provided. The existing bar was replaced with a new larger custom-built fixture, including solid surface top and new commercial bar service equipment.
