America on Wheels Hubcap Cafe

W2A Design Group designed this unique cafe as a themed eatery for visitors of the America on Wheels “over-the-road transportation” museum. With a theme reminiscent of a 1950's soda shop serving hot dogs, ice cream cones, milkshakes and soda floats, the Café experience was made truly authentic with a fully restored 1953 soda fountain from Lyons, Indiana. This space can accommodate 80-100 people with round tables for buffets with sit-down seating. A flexible, multi-purpose space associated with the café. This is used as an education center for school field trips and clinics, meetings, as well as a presentation / banquet area available to the community for galas, corporate events and private parties. The soda fountain provides a staging area for caterers, and the entire building is fully handicapped accessible. Historically significant in a revitalized industrial area, these buildings were originally part of Allentown’s meat-packing district. The renovation highlights numerous authentic and upcycled materials, several of which were either refurbished or repurposed, including 40+ classic car hubcaps featured on the HubCap Café ceiling.
